Spring Flowers?

April showers bring May couples? Flowers are not the only thing blooming these days. I swear, every corner I turn, BOOM a new couple has blossomed. Is it cuffing season? I’ve honestly been in my own bubble; the year has passed with each new talking phase. From the freshman to the people on the street, couples galore. I sit here writing this with nothing but joy in my heart for my friends. I am very happy, but it raises the question, where are my May flowers? Have I been so caught up in healing and moving forward towards summer, I have neglected my potential blossoms? Was the guy on the dating app worth a second chance? Are my standards too high? That answer is right in front of me, and it’s no. I just want an emotionally stable partner who communicates. Easy, right?

Wrong. Not only am I trapped in the same building day in and day out with the same forty or so people I see on the regular, but the dating pool is closed for the season. It could be open, accepting all new guests, but everyone is either in a relationship, doesn’t like the p*ss p*ss, or literally can’t take a moment for themselves (me included). So long spring picnic dates, and hello home cooked meals. I’m looking at you Trader Joe's frozen aisle ;)

Romantic relationships aren’t the only plant worth gardening. I have found so much rekindling and healing in platonic love this year. I have been hanging with more than just my regular cycle of four people. Though I adore my crew, my best friends are graduating, and I have so many other friendships I truly adore. All along I’ve been searching for a relationship to bloom, but maybe by tendering my garden of platonic love, something could flourish. There’s been much rain this April, so here’s to hoping for the sun this May!

Here’s to healing and blooming within the love you already have, and sending light and love to all you spring babes!
